FW is the skill you take away from. Without 10 swords, you die to even small things quickly, plus you can't hit things with a bow right next to you, unless it's big.

Yah, you need a couple med for mana shield.

You need 7 spirit total (can be reduced with items.) for an elf hp/mana ratio.

You will also need spirit travel, because you WILL die a lot.

I have 8 swords. Ask any archer that has been around for a while, You NEED a secondary weapon skill, otherwise small things can surround and trap you.

Don't forget about when you lag.

Not true, I used to have a level 25 Wood Elf Archer, named Amose. Pure ranged. thee don't exactly have to train all the way to 20 FW, thee know if thee wield a woodland bow it gives like +2 FW, that's 2 cookie poits saved. The gloves give like +1 ranged and FW if thee want to substitute that for 10 dodge. There are other things I used on my old alt. Just think about it.

I don't think it's worth saving the +2 FW sklll points to get a woodland bow. A good + accuracy bow/crossbow can easily trump it. PK, xp, doesn't matter. And yes, as much as I hate it, thee do need a secondary weapon sklll to survive as an archer. I'm talking normal gameplay here.. thee could probably get by without it if thee have certain safespots that thee just hit up over and over for the xp. If exploring new areas, thee darn well better be able to melee. I suggest swords.

Archers don't have much elbow room when it comes to skillsets but it's very possible to train the old ideal (max out range, find weakness, dodge, mana shield), and still have enough left over to hold your own in melee. The key is having the best equipment, keeping your strength to a minimum, and training nothing other than what is absolutely necessary. Therefore thee get a true archer build but it's a risky one and PK-biased.

It is pitifully hard now to train up from level 1 as a true archer. Even more, it's quite boring. thee almost have to visit your safe spots like a robot to get anywhere at all xp wise. Gotta go (at least part) paladin to explore.
